Dr. Chunfu Zheng is selected for Elsevier's Top 0.5% (2023) and Top 1% (2021-2022) scientists and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Calgary (https://cumming.ucalgary.ca/departments/microinfect/chunfu-zheng), Calgary, Canada. Dr. Zheng's research is internationally recognized for his contributions to antiviral innate immunity to herpesviruses, such as herpes simplex virus type 1/2 and varicella-zoster virus, and viral immune evasion mechanisms. Dr. Zheng has published more than 120 peer-reviewed biomedical research articles in prestigious journals such as mBio, Journal of Virology (28 papers, including 1 cover story and 2 spotlighted feature papers), Lancet Microbe (2 papers), Trends in Microbiology (2 papers), Microbiology and Molecular Biology Reviews (Cover story), FEMS Microbiology Reviews, Blood, Cytokine & Growth Factor Reviews, Reviews in Medical Virology, Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, and Journal of Immunology. He earned his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from Chongqing Medical University, China, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Saskatchewan and University of Calgary in Canada. Before joining Fujian Medical University, Dr. Zheng was a Professor at Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Soochow University, China. Dr. Zheng has earned numerous awards and distinctions, including the Hundred-Talent Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the top 25 reviewers for the Journal of Virology (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022), the Publons Top 1% peer reviewers (2019-2020), and excellent editors of ASM (mBio), Springer Nature and Frontiers. Dr. Zheng serves as an editor of mBio, an Associate Editor of Virology Journal, etc.
