Dr. Kai Cao is Vice President, Professor, and Chief Spine Surgeon at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Nanchang University and Distinguished Professor at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Dr. Cao has many years of experience and expertise in scoliosis, spinal deformity, cervical kyphosis, cervical spinal disorders, spinal tuberculosis, spinal tumors, and degenerative conditions of the spine. He has pioneered many minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat these complex conditions and is also an expert in traditional open surgery.
Dr. Cao attended medical school at Chongqing University of Medical Sciences, completed his residency in Orthopedics at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, and undertook a fellowship in Spine and Spinal Cord Surgery at Keio University, Spine Surgery at Langone Medical Center, NYU, and the Spine Center at UCSF.
Dr. Cao has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in a wide variety of orthopedics, neurosurgery, and spine journals. He sits on the editorial board of JCTR. He has been a speaker at many spine-related international symposiums or conferences and served as an abstract reviewer for many organized meetings. He is a two-time recipient of the award for scientific and technological advancement in Jiangxi, China, and has been awarded the outstanding paper from JSSR. He was awarded the Traveling Fellowship of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), the Asia Pacific Spine Society (APSS), and the North American Spine Society (NASS). He has served as diverse board members, committee members, and faculty members for such organizations as Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), AO Spine, North American Spine Society (NASS), Cervical Spine Research Society (CSRS), Cervical Spine Research Society-Asia Pacific Section (CSRS-AP), Asia Pacific Spine Society (APSS), International Meeting for Advanced Spinal Techniques (IMAST), and Chinese Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (CAOS).
